VoiceWrite does not collect any data.
We believe privacy is a fundamental right. VoiceWrite is designed to work entirely on your device without any network connectivity.
Speech Recognition
VoiceWrite uses Apple's SpeechAnalyzer API, which processes all audio entirely on your device. Your voice audio is:
- Processed in real-time on your Mac
- Never transmitted over the internet
- Never stored to disk
- Immediately discarded after transcription
The speech recognition models are managed by macOS and run outside of VoiceWrite's process space.
Permissions
VoiceWrite requires two system permissions to function:
Microphone Access
Required to capture your voice for transcription. Audio is processed in real-time and immediately discarded. VoiceWrite does not record or store audio files.
Accessibility Permission
Required to type the transcribed text into other applications using keyboard simulation. This permission allows VoiceWrite to send keystrokes to the currently focused app.
Data We Don't Collect
VoiceWrite does not collect, store, or transmit:
- Audio recordings
- Transcribed text
- Usage analytics or telemetry
- Crash reports
- Personal information
- Device identifiers
- Location data
Network Access
VoiceWrite does not connect to the internet. The app has no network code and makes no HTTP requests, API calls, or any other form of network communication.
Third-Party Services
VoiceWrite does not integrate with any third-party services, analytics platforms, advertising networks, or data brokers.

VoiceWrite is open source under the MIT License. You can audit the complete source code to verify our privacy claims:
Children's Privacy
VoiceWrite does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Since VoiceWrite collects no data, we don't anticipate any changes.
